SSF currently includes a central office (SSF-Canada) and three key program delivery partners: Sovereign Core, Ontario; SSF-Malawi; SSF-Uganda. As a registered charitable organization, SSF-Canada handles the majority of the fundraising, grant applications, public education, and administration. This gives our delivery partners the freedom to do what they do best: community-led development programming.
SSF-Malawi is an NGO that implements health and development programs as determined by the objectives of the local people. We primarily work with Malawian women to provide microfinancing funds and education (including the development of a ‘savings culture’). SSF-M is now including greater community-led discussions and programming that address the key concerns raised by our microfinance clients: gender-relations, food security (permaculture), HIV/AIDS, and schooling for their children.
Sovereign Core is a community-based organization that works with vulnerable persons of African descent within the Durham Region, Ontario. The organization addresses gender-based violence, and provides mental health and counselling support. We are taking our best practices and processes from our experiences in Sub-Saharan Africa and translating them into Canadian settings. Most recently, we are together tackling the rise in domestic violence and gender inequality issues among Sovereign Core’s clients that emerged as a result of COVID-19.
SSF-Uganda is an NGO located in Lyantonde district of southwest Uganda that implements health and development programs as determined by the objectives of the local people. We primarily work with Ugandan women to provide microfinancing funds and education (including the development of a ‘savings culture’). SSF-U is now including greater community-led discussions and programming that address the key concerns raised by our microfinance clients: gender-relations, food security (permaculture), HIV/AIDS, and schooling for their children.
